Working out isn’t always something that makes the to-do list every day. It can especially seem hard when you are traveling and feel like you don’t have the time for it. You might use the excuse, “I’m on vacation, I don’t have the time to work out.” But there are always easy ways to implement working out into your travels.

If You Can Walk, Walk

If there are places you want to see, activities you want to do, restaurants you want to eat at and they are close by, skip the cab and walk! This is the simplest form of getting exercise during your travels. It is also cost effective if you don’t want to pay for a cab or rental car. This can also be done in your hotel by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. After you check-in, carry your bags up the stairs to your room. Of course, if you are on an unreasonable floor or have too many bags where this could become dangerous, opt-out for the elevator and just take the stairs when your hands are free.

Mini Workouts

Whether it’s in your room before or after your day, create a mini workout plan. There are easy no-equipment workouts that can be done in your room. You can incorporate push-ups, sit-ups, tricep dips, squats, and more into your morning routine. Not only will this help you stay active over your vacation, but it will also kick-start your morning!

Hotel Gym

Before booking your hotel, check which hotels offer a fitness center. You can keep your routine from home the same by using their equipment or even lighten it up since you are traveling and might not want to overdo it. Normally, you can find what equipment the fitness centers offer but if not, call the concierge and create a workout plan from there.

Plan

You should plan your fitness regimen before arriving at your final destination. This way you have your day planned out that includes fitness. This is a way to hold yourself accountable during your travels and make sure you don’t lose the progress you have been making. Planning will also help determine what clothes you need to pack. If you want to run, swim, or hike, you will need to pack accordingly so you are prepared.
