Summer is sadly coming to an end, but it does not mean the travel has to stop! There are many cities in the United States that do fun events all-year-round. Some states have the best scenery during the fall since the trees are changing and temperatures are cooling. Other states have a bunch of fun activities to do during the fall season.
Denver, Colorado
Not only does Denver have the Denver Oktoberfest, Beer Fest, and the Great American Beer Festival, it also beautiful scenery. Denver’s foliage is full of colors during the month of October. A great way to experience the array of colors and nature is to travel along the Cherry Creek Bike Trail or High Line Canal.
Portland, Maine
Harvest on the Harbor has foodies coming in from across the nation. I mean, who would want to miss Grand Tasting on the Harbor or the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year competition. Audience members have the chance to taste the creations alongside the judges. If you feel guilty about the overeating you will be doing on the Harbor, a great way to see foliage is to hike up Bradbury Mountain.
Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake City hosts the Utah State Fair in September, the Western Music Festival, and Oktoberfest. Autumn months are typically lower in price and have thinner crowds. You can drive or hike along the Big Cottonwood Canyon to enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you want a shorter trip, you can visit the Little Cottonwood Canyon which is only 7 miles compared to the 15 miles you’d be hiking at the Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Orlando, Florida
If you are traveling with children, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida could be the perfect destination for you. The crowds are usually small due to school just starting. You also miss the summer heat-waves and can enjoy the cooler parks. Disney starts decorating for Halloween at the end of August so even if you cannot make it there during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you still get to see the decor and unique merchandise.
