The world is big, and life is short, which can make it hard to travel everywhere. No matter what type of traveler you are, there are must-sees around the world that everyone loves. In this series of blogs, I share my bucket list of must-see destinations around the globe. Our first stop: the United States Northeast!
Walk the Freedom Trail
The first stop on the northeast bucket list is Boston, Massachusetts. While Boston is home to many exciting adventures, walking the Freedom Trail is a must. This 2.5 mile, red-lined route leads you past 16 historic sites! The Freedom Trail will take you through churches, museums, meeting houses, parks, historical markets, and more that tell the tale of the American Revolution. While on the path, be sure to take a stop at the Boston Common and the Bunker Hill Monument!
Eat Philly Cheesesteaks
Moving slightly south, we can make our way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Philly is full of historical monuments and tradition, but what better way to visit the city than by eating your way through it. The Philly cheesesteak rivalry between Geno’s and Pat’s is never ending so be sure taste test both! The two rivals are located directly across from each other so take a bite of both and make your decision on who has the better cheesesteak!
See Wild Horses
Another northeast must-see is Assateague Island. This beach is located in Maryland and is home to beautiful beaches and wild horses. Assateague Island is 37 miles long and is an excellent place to visit. Many opt to camp out on the beach and take bike tours around the island to see wildlife and nature’s beauty.
Visit Central Park
Central Park is another popular northeast destination. While New York is filled with hustle and bustle, Central Park is the calm in the middle of the storm. Central Park is one of the best-known parks in the world due to its sculptures, playgrounds, walking trails, concerts, outdoor movies, educational programs and guided tours.
Taste Test Portland’s Beer
Portland is considered one of America’s best beer cities due to its large crop of local brewers as well as its role in the microbrew movement. The city is home to numerous breweries and beer tours that will not disappoint. If you travel to Maine without taking a sip of beer, you are definitely missing out.
