If you are traveling to Germany, deciding which cities to visit and places to see can be challenging because the country offers a little bit of everything. From river cruises and lust forests to castles and festivals, Germany has it all. Narrowing down the list of your must-sees in the beautiful country can be difficult, but here’s my list of four incredible places that are worth your visit.

Berlin

Germany is full of major cities. From Munich and Frankfurt to Berlin and Hamburg, the list is very long. However, if you only have the opportunity to visit one major city, I recommend visiting Berlin. The country’s capital is full of adventure. From the Berlin Wall Memorial to the German parliament, you will never run out of things to do and see. A personal favorite of mine is seeing a performance by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra is considered one of the best in the world, and there is no better place to sample the delightful sounds of classical and contemporary German music.

Cologne

Cologne is another large city in Germany that is definitely worth the visit. Located on the Rhine River, the city offers a vast array of attractions, buzzing nightlife and a beautiful arts and culture scene. A must-see is the Cologne Cathedral, which will be hard to miss. The gothic church stands 516 feet tall and is located right next to the train station. I also suggest taking a river cruise to see more of the city’s stunning architecture.

Ostfriesland

Ostfriesland is located in the northwest corner of Germany, and many have never visited the city. My grandparents lived in this town, and to this day, I believe it’s Germany’s hidden secret. To me, the landscape is a mixture of Holland and the Cape Cod making the city a perfect place for a relaxing weekend. Ostfriesland is home to many parks and gardens as well as beaches and castles that are worth your visit.

Heidelberg

The last city on my list to see is Heidelberg. Nestled in the hills along Neckar River, Heidelberg may be the most picturesque city in Germany. Heidelberg is one of the few German towns that survived World War II. Thus, Heidelberg is filled with old world charm. The destination is best known for the Heidelberg Castle, which is located on top of a hill and gives you a breathtaking view of the city. Other places to see include the Heidelberg University and the Karl Theodor Bridge.

Ranging in stunning castles and flowing rivers to beautiful cities and historical monuments, Germany is an incredible place to visit. No matter where you go in Germany, you will be sure to be sure to find delightful adventure.
